Powerloc-C Paving Sand

Powerloc-C Paving Sand

Powerloc-C Paving Sand is a special blend of selected sand and gel agents and cement suitable for filling gaps (2-4mm) between pavers.

Designed to provide a slightly flexible joint in paving applications that reduces the likelihood of sand erosion and inhibits weed growth.

As a specialised product, it is important to note the product limitations and directions for use as listed below. Given the specialised nature of this product, it is recommended that a trial application of the product is completed in a small test area. This will allow you to ensure the product is suitable for use with your pavers.

Directions for use:
  1. Lay pavers as per manufacturer’s instructions. Pavers must be completely dry before adding Powerloc-C Paving Sand. Pavers must be on a sand or gravel base that enables drainage. Do not use on a concrete base as moisture will not drain effectively and impact performance of the paving sand.
  2. Spread Powerloc-C Paving Sand over dry pavers and thoroughly sweep diagonally into the cracks with a broom. It is important to ensure there is no residual Powerloc-C Paving Sand sitting on top of the pavers to avoid/minimise the risk of discolouration.
  3. Using either a tampering tool or vibrating compactor, work over the paving area to ensure the Powerloc-C Paving Sand completely fills the joints.
  4. Sweep the paved surface again and top up where there are gaps. Remove excess sand and ensure there is no sand left on the top of the pavers as this may stain or discolour the pavers.
  5. Ensure Powerloc-C Paving Sand is removed from the bevelled or rounded edge of the gaps.
  6. The next step is to saturate the Powerloc-C Paving Sand all the way through without flooding the area. It is important to use a fine mist spray and the process may need to be repeated several times to ensure that the water has soaked through the entire depth of the Powerloc-C Paving Sand. This process activates the gelling agent and is a critical step in the process.
  7. When the area dries, your paving is ready for use. Drying time will depend upon climatic conditions.
