Surface Preparation

Area where product is to be used must be dry. Remove any weeds or other plant material (use of weed killer recommended) to create a clean surface for the bitumen to be compacted into. For footpaths use timber or other material to assist forming edges. Base must be thoroughly compacted, crushed stone recommended.

Application

Apply Bitumen evenly, spreading the mixture into the edges of the area and creating a slight dome shape over the area in preparation for compaction. Do not exceed 30mm in one application. Leave for a few minutes and then compact using a roller, plate compactor or hand tamper. A 30mm layer should compact to around 25mm. For thicknesses greater than 50mm Dingo Bitumen Patch is not recommended. Note, in cooler weather the Bitumen will feel firm when removed from packaging but will still perform in temperatures between 10 and 40 degrees Celsius. If you wish to soften up the Bitumen, place in a warm place for up to 30 minutes.

Curing

The product hardens slowly as the bonding agent dries out but is ready for light traffic immediately upon compaction. The product will continue to harden over the next 4 weeks depending on weather conditions. During this period scuffing should be avoided. Driveway sealers or coatings to the repaired area should be avoided until after 6 months. A low-stick formula is used but if you wish to further reduce any sticky texture, apply a very light covering of sand after compaction.
